Recycling is currently held on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of each month (other than holidays and severe weather) from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the HN Community Center parking lot.

Recyclables need to be rinsed clean to control odor. The following can be recycled: Plastic bottles and jugs, only No. 1 and No. 2 – milk, juice, pop, detergent bottles and jugs. Look for the recycling arrow on the bottom of the container, the number will be in the middle. Aluminum or metal – food and beverage – bottles or containers. Glass – food and beverage – bottles or jars. Paper – newspaper, magazines, cereal boxes, cake/pancake boxes, etc., telephone books, junk mail (remove address) – office paper. Cardboard – flattened (no larger than 2’x2’.) The above items are the only recyclables accepted. THE VILLAGE EMERGENCY COMMITTEE CREATED A PLAN TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IN DUNKIRK IS SAFE IN CASE OF ANY UNEXPECTED EMERGENCIES.

THE TORNADO SIREN WILL SOUND TWO SHORT BLASTS TO WARN OF A POSSIBLE TORNADO. IS ONE CONTINUOUS BLAST WILL BE MADE WHEN THE STORM HAS PASSED.

The Community Center has a Thrift Store where one can donate/buy clothing, toys, books, household items and so much more. The hours for the Thrift Store at Tuesdays 1-6, Thursdays 1-7, and the 1st and 3rd Saturday 9-2. When there is a 5th Saturday they are open as well. If you would like to make a donation please contact Marty at 567-674-4440 to make arrangements. Volunteers help keep this Community Center and Thrift Store open so if you are from the HN Community and would like to donate some time, please contact Marty, or any member of the Community Center board.
